Today’s L-Arginine review is for a great product called Arginine Infusion by Sante Global. This product is sold in two different sizes in which the smaller jars are less expensive if you buy them in a 3-jar or 4-jar pack. We are obviously very impressed with Arginine Infusion, having received the best overall grade, so lets dive right into the review.
Value – 4.0
Arginine Infusion comes in two different sizes: An 11 ounce and a 66 ounce jumbo jar. The 11 ounce can be purchased in single jars or in bulk at a lower cost per jar (3-jar and 4-jar packs). But you get the best value per ounce when you buy the Arginine Infusion – Berry Blend – XL jumbo jar. it was with this jar that we calculated their cost per ounce and best price per serving. The jumbo jar is $179.00 for 66 ounces which has the best value of all our reviews at $2.71 per ounce and 99¢ per serving.
Taste/Flavor – 3.5
Now for the subjective portion of the grade. Arginine Infusion comes in a Berry Blend flavor which is actually quite good. Unlike other supplemental drinks where you find yourself drinking them quickly to avoid taste, Arginine Infusion actually had a pleasant berry flavor. The flavor was also very complimentary when we mixed it into a fruit smoothie or breakfast shake. The only thing that we would add is that Sante Global may want to add more flavors to their L-Arginine product as long as they taste as good as their Berry Blend flavor. After deducting a few grade points for lack of variety we came up with a grade point of 3.5 on Taste/Flavor.
Nutrition – 3.8
Finally we come to the last section: the nutritional component. Arginine Infusion has gone the extra mile with their nutritional value. In addition to the L-arginine, L-citrulline, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin K and Folate (Folic Acid) traditionally found in L-Arginine products, Arginine Infusion also contains Grape Skin Extract or Resveratrol, Red Wine Extract, D-Ribose, Magnesium and 72 Trace Minerals which are not found in some of the other L-Arginine Products. Arginine Infusion is the only brand of L-Arginine that contains CoQ10 and AstraGin™. CoQ10 can help with heart function, healthy gums and Type II diabetes. AstraGin™ is 100% natural and has been shown to significantly enhance the absorption of L-arginine, L-citrulline and amino acids by 66%. In addition, Arginine Infusion is the only one we have found that is Certified Gluten FREE! Considering all the nutritional value Arginine Infusion contained we came up with a grade of 3.8 for the nutritional grade.
Extra Credit Points or Additional Grade Point Deductions
In our opinion, Arginine infusion has earned 0.3 extra credit grade points for the following: First, they receive 0.1 extra credit for offering unconditional, Free Shipping inside the United States. Second, they earned an additional 0.1 grade point for having a 90 Day Money Back Guarantee. And last of all they earned another 0.1 grade point for offering a subscription option at check out–you can have them automatically charge your credit card and ship Arginine Infusion to you on a recurring basis.
Having read all the reviews of Arginine Infusion, I am wondering if other L-Arginine products like tablets are useful to take at all. I bought a well know brand name of l-Argiinine tablets and now find out that the powdered form is more absorbable. Can I grind up my tablets to make them a powder and get the same effect as buying the powdered form? My goal is to lower blood pressure and improve blood flow, etc.
Geoff, L-arginine supplements will work pretty much the same, despite coming in different forms. Just make sure they are using high quality ingredients.
I am 70 and my husband is 76, we both are on BP meds and my husband has a Pacemaker, we recently retired and the weight is creeping up. I love to cook and now I have time for it. I have bad vertigo and my hubby has Arthritis in his feet, so exercise is decreased. would L-arginine infusion help us? Could you put it in a milkshake? Can you have a drink with it? Does it replace a meal? Thank you for helping.
Monika,
L-Arginine is a natural supplement that has many benefits which you can read here. I have never heard of it helping with vertigo but it is said to work for arthritis:
“Arginine supports the immune system and can promote the healing of inflammatory processes. In addition, arginine improves circulation and can thus help to transfer micronutrients to the joints.” Read More
Arginine Infusion is not a ‘Meal Replacement’ but you could mix it in with a meal replacement shake. We have mixed Arginine Infusion in with smoothies and it taste really great with the berry mix flavor.
Thanks for your question and We hope this helps.
I just read E D PROTOCOL and they recommend to take 5gm per day of L-Arginine, plus 2 doses of 2gm of Propionyl-L- carnitine per week… is this safe? I’m 60.
thank you!
Rick,
The recommended dose in mg per day is about 10,000mg (10g). Most L-Arginine products contain 5000mg (5g) per serving which is typically a scoop. It is best to take 5000mg (5g) (1 scoop) in the morning and one scoop in the evening 5000mg (5g) (1 scoop). Note: it is safe to work up to 15,000mg – 20,000mg per day depending on what you are using it for. The amounts in your comment should be safe for you, but always check with your physician.
Thanks for the question.
I have elevated blood pressure and gerd, I’m on eds for both, but not every day. I don’t like meds. I’m going through menopause so all these changes has come about, even extra weight gain to my upper body. It’s hard to lose it, and my husband has a hard time getting there and staying there, he doesn’t want it any more, hasn’t been much in about 2 and a half years now. Also losing my muscles. My question is, do you think our body is lacking l-arginine? Normally our bodies when young produce l-arginine for all these changes our body go through.
Susanna,
It does appear that you could benefit from l-arginine supplement. L-Arginine does improve blood flow and can help reduce blood pressure. L-arginine can help with erectile dysfunction as it does increase blood flow to the penis. I would give it a try for a few months and let us know the results.
Thanks for the question.
I’m looking to take L-Arginine to help with blood flow during a Frozen Embryo Transfer (aka IVF). What is the difference between this product and your typical capsules of L-Arginine?
Andrea,
You get a much stronger does when taking powder form. Arginine Infusion contains 5,000 mg of L-Arginine and 1,000 mg of L-citrulline plus it has 50 mg of AstraGin which increases the absorption of L-Arginine 66%. So you get higher doses of L-Arginine in powder form.
Will taking L-Arginine decrease the effectiveness of ED drugs such as Viagra
I would be mildly cautious with Viagra and L-Arginine. It shouldn’t cause a problem but talk with your health provider. Sildenafil (Viagra) can lower blood pressure. L-arginine can also lower blood pressure. Taking sildenafil (Viagra) and L-arginine together might cause the blood pressure to go too low. Blood pressure that is too low can cause dizziness and other side effects.
How does Arginine Infusion compare to another product called cardio juvenate+? I see you guys have reviewed several other Arginine products and I was wondering if your going to do a review on cardio juvenate+? Thanks.
Good question! We haven’t heard of Cardio Juvenate Plus before you brought it to our attention. We will order some and try to review it soon. Thanks for your comment.
I noticed that Arginine Infusion has two new ingredients. AstraGin and Coq10. I’m not familiar with AstraGin can you let me know what it does?
Jerry,
AstraGin helps with the absorption of L-arginine and L-citrulline by 66%. It also increased the absorption of amino acids and help repair damaged intestinal lining. AstraGin is patent pending and 100% natural. The formula is derived from highly purified Panax notoginseng and Astragalus membrenaeus.
Coq10 helps heart function, healthy gums and type 2 diabetes.
Thanks for the great question
any chance of making l arginine unsweetened?
Barbara,
Sorry, we here at L-Arginine Reviews only review the L-Arginine products, we do not sell them. You can contact Sante Global by visiting their Contact Us page.
can it be mixed in smoothies or taken alone?
Barbara,
When we reviewed Arginine Infusion we tried it plain and in a breakfast smoothie. It was great in a smoothie especially when we mixed bananas with the mixed berry flavor. Give it a try and let us know what you think.
May I ask how you made the smoothie? I am interested in trying that approach but it seems like it might be watery if mixed with water, ice and bananas.
Thanks.
Here is one of my favorites:
1 Scoop Arginine Infusion
8 oz. Orange Juice
1/2 Cup Raspberries
1 Peach
Ice Cubes
Let us know how you like it.
My BP is already on the low end – typically around 102 over 64. Since these products are reported to reduce your BP, would this be a safe product for me to take?
Brian,
If your low blood pressure has been diagnosed as a known medical condition, you should consult your healthcare provider. Otherwise it shouldn’t be a problem and L-Arginine primary function is to improve blood flow.
What is the recommended dose in mg’s per day?
Jim,
The recommended dose in mg per day is about 10,000mg. Most L-Arginine products contain 5000mg per serving which is typically a scoop. It is best to take 5000mg (1 scoop) in the morning and one scoop in the evening 5000mg (1 scoop). Note: it is safe to work up to 15,000mg – 20,000mg per day depending on what you are using it for.
Thanks for the question.
I see that l-arginine helps with weight loss. My concern is that I do not have any blood issues. How will the product affect me?
Kathy,
Many people like yourself use l-arginine for the purpose of weight loss, muscle building, etc. and they do not have blood issues. In general, l-arginine should not have a negative effect for those who have normal blood levels.
Can you buy this in Perth, Western Australia. Is it 100% natural product?
It appears that you can buy Arginine Infusion from Sante Global website and have it shipped to Perth, Australia but you will not receive Free Shipping; I added the Jumbo jar in the shopping cart and got a shipping quote for Perth, Western Australia 6000 and it gave me $60 for shipping. I obviously, didn’t complete the checkout process but it appears that you can have it shipped to you. You may want to give the company a call and see if they can work a better deal on shipping if you buy it in bulk. Hope this helps…thanks for the question.
I wanted to know if this product does in fact decrease the plaque in arteries? That is the reason that I keep having heart attacks. Also, I wanted to ask that since I have had stints and balloons put in my arteries, would I have to have them taken out at some point if this product does decrease the amount of plaque in my arteries?
To my understanding L-Arginine produces nitric oxide, which is said to dissolve plaque in arteries as well as make your arteries healthier?
I would greatly appreciate your insights about whether or not I would need to have the metal stints and ballons removed, and or if the product you recommend would decrease the amount of plaque that much and would warrant needing to have them removed?
Orion,
Yes, L-Arginine is among the several key strategies required to gain control over coronary plaque and halt the growth in plaque. Here is a great article you can read:
Track Your Plaque
As for removing the stints and balloons, make sure you speak with your physician about your concerns.
Thanks for visiting.
Hello:
Thanks for all your wonderful information. What I need to know is if any of these L-Arginine products are Gluten Free for celiac based issues? This is in regards to the fillers, or B vitamins and if they come from grains as usually they do.
Betty
Betty,
I emailed Sante Global and they said that they do not use anything in Arginine Infusion that contains Gluten. They said that if they wanted to have “Gluten Free” printed on the Arginine Infusion container, they would have to get it certified and that cost money which would increase the price of their product. But to answer your question, The manufacture said it does not contain Gluten.
Betty,
Good news! Sante Global, manufacturers of Arginine Infusion, recently let me know that their L-Arginine product is now Certified Gluten Free.
I am undecided on which supplement L-Arginine product I should buy. Can you clarify the differences between this product and Forever ARGI+ ? It is not in this list of l-arginine products? I also want to know your thoughts on Forever ARGI+.
Jackson,
You are not the only reader that has asked us about Forever ARGI+. We have actually ordered a canister and we are in the process of reviewing it now. I would say that it did cost us $65.70 for a 10.6 oz canister which put the cost per ounce at $5.72 per ounce (this does not include shipping). If we include our shipping, it prices out at almost $6.20 per ounce. Comparing it to the other L-Arginine products we have reviewed, it is the most expensive. Stay tuned for the review of Forever ARGI+ to come in the next week or so. Thanks for the comment.
Jackson,
Here is a quick update…We have finished reviewing Forever ARGI+ and here is the review:

Hope this helps!
Does high doeses of L-arginine cause the BNP levels to go up as it allows for more flexibility in vessels and can it cause BLLL as a consequence while lipids are already low.
Lee,
From what I understand, increased levels of BNP (Brain Natriuretic Peptide) has the effect of decreasing blood pressure in the body by decreasing blood volume. L-Arginine reduces blood pressure by way of vasodilation, basically it increases the aperture of your blood vessels thus, lowering you blood pressure. I have never heard that L-Arginine increases the BNP levels in your blood.
I’m not sure what “BLLL” is maybe you could clarify.
Hi. What grade of l-arginine is Arginine Infusion and L-arginine Plus? I have heard there are at least three grades: pharmaceutical, man-man, and synthetic. I have heard pharmaceutical is the best, and I know Pro-Arginine Plus is a pharmaceutical grade l-arginine from a very reputable company. I am researching other brands with a specific interest in grade. Any info you have on grades with any brand is much appreciated. Thank you so much!
Tina,
I contacted the manufacture and they said that their L-Arginine comes from an all-natural plant source. They stated that in order to call their L-Arginine ‘Pharmaceutical Grade’ they would have to pay additional $ to have it certified. To have L-Arginine considered ‘Pharmaceutical Grade’ it is tested to see if it is approved to inject intravenously. Since their L-Arginine product is intended to mix in a drink to take orally they felt it was a waste of money and would only make Arginine Infusion more expensive.
Hope this helps.
I noticed that the ProArgi-9 has fluoride in it which isn’t necessarily good since it affects the nerves and one should not take any. Does the Arginine Infusion have it and why if so? I am thinking of switching since to Arginine Infusion got such a good rating and I can’t stand the taste of the ProArgi-9. I have to hold my nose to keep from tasting it. Thank you for your reply.
Lynn,
Thanks for your comment. We spoke to the manufacturer and Arginine Infusion does not contain any fluoride. And as far as taste goes, we here at L-Arginine Reviews felt that it did have the best flavor of all the L-Arginine products that we have reviewed. Once you have given it a try, let us know what you think as we know that taste is subjective.
Thanks again
Is this product an alternative to Viagra?
Great question. One of the major benefits of L-Arginine is that it improves your blood flow by relaxing or dilating the arteries. In turn L-Arginine may also help with erectile dysfunction. The effects of L-Arginine would take place over a longer period of time whereas Viagra is more immediate. So, is L-Arginine an alternative to Viagra? not immediately, but over time it may help with erectile dysfunction.
Could you tell me if Arginine Infusion is manufactured in the United States or more about the company Sante Global? I visited their website, but it is only lists an email and phone number, no city/state, which makes me wonder if this product is not manufactured in the US. The product sounds great, but I’d like to know more about the company itself and the Q/A measures they employ. Do you know anything about them?
Tammy,
I went to Sante Global‘s website and looked around and found the information you are looking for. Arginine Infusion is manufactured in the United States in a NSF GMP Certified plant. To read more about Arginine Infusion‘s manufacturing information, go to their website and select any of the Arginine Infusion products (example: Jumbo Berry Blend) and click on the tab next to the description titled ‘Additional Information’ and there is actually a link that explains what it means to have their product manufactured in a NSF GMP Certified Plant. Sante Global is out of Missouri.
Great Question and I hope this helps.
Hi,
I’m not on any medications but am taking a natural blood thinner called Dr. Best’s
Nattokinase. Would it be safe to take Arginine Infusion with Natto?
Thanks
Jeff,
Great question. See the comment thread posted by Betty Wells about blood thinners and L-Arginine by clicking here.
Hope this answers your question.
I started taking Arginine Infusion about 3 weeks ago. I started the first week with one scoop in the morning and then increased to two scoops per day- morning and evening or before a run. What is the recommended “Clinical Dose” specifically for lowering cholesterol. I just read somewhere you need 4 scoops for a “clinical dose” . Is that correct?
That is correct, you should take anywhere from 6000 mg to 20,000 mg of L-Arginine per day split up into morning and night (10,000 mg in the morning and 10,000 mg in the evening). I the case of Arginine Infusion, each scoop or serving contains 5000 mg of L-Arginine so you should take up to 2 scoops in the morning and 2 scoops at night.
Keep in mind that 4 scoops of L-Arginine per day may be a waste for some individuals. I would suggest starting with 1 scoop in the morning and 1 scoop at night (10,000 mg) for a few weeks and then having your cholesterol or blood pressure checked (whichever you are trying to lower). If taking 10,000 mg of L-Arginine per day gets the results you want, then only use the 2 scoops per day. If you haven’t achieved the cholesterol or blood pressure levels that you want then increase the L-Arginine to 15,000 mg or 3 scoops per day and then 20,000 or 4 scoops if needed. Using this strategy will avoid giving your body more than it needs and also avoid wasting your Arginine Infusion.
Hope this helps and thanks for the question.
Does the original synery proargi-9+ contain artificial sweetner?
Ray,
I’m not sure what you mean by “original” ProArgi-9+, we have only reviewed the current brand that is available and it uses an sweetener called Xylitol. Xylitol originates from xylose which is found in the fibers of many fruits and vegetables, and can be extracted from certain berries, oats, and mushrooms, as well as fibrous material such as corn husks and sugar cane, and birch. Xylitol is a processed sugar; After being hydrogenated and having chemicals added to xylose, and then removed, you get xylitol.
Xylitol is not as sweet as regular sugar, but it contain fewer calories. One reason that Xylitol provides fewer calories than normal sugar is because Xylitol is not completely absorbed into your body. Because of this, eating many foods containing Xylitol can lead to abdominal gas and diarrhea.
So, even though Xylitol does originate from a natural source, it does go through such a chemical change that some have argued that it should not be considered ‘natural’ (Example). Even though Xylitol does have some benefit to promote healthier teeth, many of our readers have claimed that xylitol is the culprit behind stomach cramps and diarrhea in some L-Arginine products. Some of our readers have noticed these symptoms subside once they have switched to an alternate L-Arginine product that uses Stevia as a natural sweeter such as Arginine Infusion or some of the other brands we’ve reviewed.
Im not sure this answers your question but thanks for leaving you comment.
I wanted to leave a quick comment letting you know that I gave Arginine Infusion a try for my elevated blood pressure and let you know the results.
After going to the doctor and being told that my blood pressure was 140/95 which is hypertension stage 1, I search the web to find some natural solutions for lowering my blood pressure. I came across your review site and decided to give Arginine Infusion a try. I bought the smaller jar to make sure it would work before I bought more. After two weeks of using Arginine Infusion, my blood pressure is now down to 114/86! Not bad for only two weeks! I still need to lower my diastolic a few more points and am hoping that Arginine Infusion will do the trick. I will let you know if it gets my blood pressure all the way down to a ‘Normal’ blood pressure.
Thanks for the review and advise.
That is great! Glad to help. Please let us know if Agrinine Infusion gets you blood pressure to the normal range. have you noticed any side effects in the two weeks you have been using Agrinine Infusion?
No, no side effects that I have noticed.
My wife started taking L-Arginine and in 2 days she had diarrhea. She took one scoop in the morning on empty stomach. She has a family history of heart problems and she also has high LDL around 155. Is it better to take it in a diluted form? Should I mix one scoop in one liter of water and drink it whenever she feels thirsty?
Because many L-Arginine products contain high dosages of L-Arginine some people do get diarrhea when they first start taking it. She may want to start taking 1/2 a scoop with 8 to 12 oz of water a day. Once she gets used to this dose she can do 1 scoop in the morning.
She can also do 1/2 scoop in the morning and 1/2 a scoop in the afternoon. Once she becomes accustom to taking a higher dose of L-Arginine the diarrhea will stop. This is a great product for heart health it will also help to lower her LDL.
Please let me know if this strategy helps your wife.
I just had a heart attack in May and im now having to take LIPITOR , CARVEDILOL , & COLPIDOGREL . Is this L-ARGININE Safe to use with these drugs?
Mike, Great question. Since L-Arginine is a natural occurring amino acid in your body, in most cases it is safe to take an L-Arginine product with the drugs listed. To be sure, Check with your doctor to make sure but it should not be a problem.
I am an 82 year old woman who is in pretty good health. However, I do take prescription drugs like plavix, verapail, ,synthroid, lisinopril,, as well as a multivitamin. How will Arginine Infusion and all these pills get along together?
Thanks for the question. I know that you are okay to use an L-Arginine product with a couple of the prescriptions on your list but to be sure you can click on the ‘Complete Nutrition Facts’ icon on the review page, print it off and take it to your physician or your pharmacist to make sure an L-Arginine product is compatible with you combination of prescription drugs. Hope this help.
Can these products help to reduce weight?
A 2006 study in the “American Journal of Physiology Endocrinology and Metabolism” found that those who took an L-Arginine products in addition to ad-hearing to a reduced-calorie diet and exercise program for 21 days significantly reduced their adipose fat mass and waist circumference. Although the placebo group, who only dieted and exercised, improved in several health factors, their fat-mass loss was not significant. This would indicate that L-arginine products greatly enhances fat loss.
A study published in a 2006 edition of the “Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry” examined the role of nitric oxide on fat metabolism. Scientists found that L-arginine supplementation produced nitric oxide, which reduced fat mass.
In addition, many of the L-Arginine products out there also contain Resveratrol or Grape Skin Extract which is a vitamin that has been proven to help speed up metabolism. This increased rate of the metabolism causes the body to use and process the food consumed at an increased, which causes the calories in food to be utilized more effectively. When the body metabolizes food faster, there is a decreased risk of unused calories being stored in the body in the form of fat.
I hope this helps and thanks for visiting!
I have shanles, is it ok to use l-arginine.
I’m not sure what ‘Shanles’ is, could you clarify? Wondering if it is a typo?
My Doctor has placed me on ISOSORB MONO 30 MG. Will the L-Arginine react with this? The product sounds like just what I have been looking for.
Cliff
Thanks for you comment/question. ISOSORB MONO or Isosorbide mononitrate belongs to a group of drugs called nitrates. It dilates or widens blood vessels, which makes it easier for blood to flow thus making it easier for the heart to pump.
Make sure you consult your doctor before using any L-Arginine product in combination with other drugs or prescriptions.
I’ve heard about L-arginine but I’ve never heard about Arginine Infusion. What is the difference between them?
Arginine Infusion is a relatively new L-Arginine product and as you can see from our reviews, it received the highest GPA of all the L-arginine products that we have reviewed. If you look over our Arginine Infusion review, you will see that it has the best price per ounce at $2.41 per ounce when you buy the jumbo jar. We gave it a grade of 3.5 for taste; we really enjoyed the berry flavor and found that it taste great with a fruit breakfast smoothie or breakfast shake. If you want to give it a try without spending the money on the jumbo jar, they do have a smaller jar which I think is a 11 ounce jar. If you do give the Arginine Infusion product a try, let us know what you think. Thanks for commenting.
What about the vitamin K? I am taking a blood thinner for atrial fibrilation.
B. Wells
Vitamin K is an necessary part of glumatic acid, an amino acid that causes the chemical reaction called carboxylation. This chemical reaction aids in the blood from an open wound to stick to the tissue, thereby clotting the open wound and precluding an excess of blood from flowing out. Nose bleeding, heavy menstrual bleeding, easy bruising, hemorrhaging and anemia are just some of the indications that a person is vitamin K deficient.
I would highly recommend consulting with your physician before using any type of L-Arginine product while using a blood thinner because most L-Arginine products do contain Vitamin K.
Excellent question. Need to check your PT/INR closely when first taking this product, because in can possibly decrease you PT/INR (i.e. make you blood less thin)
This product is great! I had been taking “ProArgi 9” for around 3 years. In that time I have noticed a big difference in my health. I have a lot more energy and my blood-work has greatly improved. A couple of months ago I found “Arginine Infusion” on the internet and because the price was so much less I did some investigating. I have since learned that the only reason ProArgi 9 cost so much more is because of the big mark-up with multi level company’s.
Arginine Infusion tastes better and is a LOT cheaper. I was buying the jumbo in the Pro Arginine and they went up to $270 each. So why pay over $120 more for the same – if not better product?!
